What will 50p buy you these days? It'll hardly buy a newspaper, or a can of fizzy pop.

Sponsorship costs a minimum of £15 a month - that is just 50p a day. 80% of this money is spent directly overseas. The remaining 20% is spent on priority activities such as responding to emergencies, campaigning on behalf of poor people, finding new sponsors and raising additional funds.

just 50p a day and you can change the life of a child. Action Aid

Help children across the world

Sponsership helps some of the poorest people in the world.

As a child sponsor, you'll receive regular updates from overseas on the work you're helping to make possible - including messages or drawings from the child you sponsor. They'll also send you Common Cause, ActionAid's supporter magazine.

Payroll giving is a tax effective way for PAYE taxpayers to support ActionAid's work directly from their pay packet. There is no limit to how much you can give each month.

Important questions about Action Aid

I'd like to sponsor a child so how much does it cost?

Government's Gift Aid scheme, if you are a UK taxpayer, ActionAid can reclaim the tax on your donations - increasing their value by about a third at no extra cost to you. Any funds received from Gift Aid are spent on priority activities where the need is greatest.

How long does sponsorship last?

Normally sponsorship of achild stops when they leave school or when Action Aid stop working with a community. This usually means a child is sponsored for a minimum of 3 years.
