Publicity ideas to raise awareness of events |
|
How to get publicity for your eventsWhat to include in the info.Make sure you include date, time, where and what in the information plus a contact person for more information. Where to startEnlist the help of whatever group you're fundraising for. They might already have local press and radio contacts you can use. If not then make enquiries with your local radio stations and see if they announce events for free if they are for charity. Contact the local papers and see if they list charity events free. Contact members of the local press and see if they'd be interested in doing a story about your event and the charity. Have people willing to be in photos!
At work:Use the resources you have at work (and thatdoesn't mean unauthorised use of photocopiers etc) Ask first as some companys are particular about what can be advertised in work. Use Work notice boards
Locally:Ask local shop keepers to put up posters (Some may have a small charge for this - get a receipt if you ever have to pay anything out) Ask at the doctors, dentist, chemist, optician, family health centres etc Ask at the library if you can put posters up and leave leaflets. Tell friends who live nearby about it and invite them too. Schools - ask if schools can pass on messages about events - or whether they will distribute a leaflet. Some may do this for you. Pubs - ask if you can put posters up in your local! Lots of landlords will do this.
Make people want to come to the event - make it newsworthy!Invite a local celeb, the mayor, or someone famous if you can! Hold it at a date and time when it doesn't clash with other local events Make it clear who it is fundraising for and set targets to reach.
