RSPCA pet charitySupport the RSPCA by buying gifts As the world’s oldest and largest animal welfare organisation, the RSPCA stands ready to deal with any emergency. Every 27 seconds, a call is made to our National Cruelty and Advice Line, resulting in a hectic annual workload: over 12,000 rescues, more than 110,000 cruelty complaints investigated and nearly 70,000 animals re-homed.
The RSPCA Christmas Gift Box offers an alternative way to solve difficult
gift problems for friends and family, as well as helping animals in distress.
It works this way – the person receiving the gift gets a delightful
certificate showing all the good the gift is doing to help animals in
need of care and protection. There’s a wide range to choose from
– dogs, cats, horses, rabbits… all the domestic animals and
pets you can think of. They money goes direct to help the RSPCA’s
vital animal welfare work – it’s the perfect answer to that
constant question – “what do you buy the person who has everything?” RSPCA Animal Rescues
It seems unbelievable, but Kenny was just one of 246 dogs rescued from a single squalid house in Lancashire. While in the RSPCA’s care, this friendly little character was selected as being particularly suitable for training by ‘Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’.
Many hundreds of hearing dogs currently working across the UK once suffered like Kenny – dogs that were dumped or abused. But with a great deal of love and care most of them are transformed into invaluable assistants to people with a disability.
Despite the appalling conditions he’d been subjected to, Kenny quickly adapted to normal household routines, and within a few weeks was ready for his 16-week training course. He learned how to alert a deaf owner to important warning sounds, like an alarm clock, doorbell, telephone or cooker timer – and especially, smoke and fire alarms.
Kenny’s an absolute lifeline for his new deaf owner, who adores him. And he’s another example of why the RSPCA is so badly needed, every day.
The aims of the RSPCA are to promote kindness and prevent cruelty to
animals. We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
